Some Happy Thoughts to End the Week

Friends, I am so glad it is Friday. It's been a strangely long week, made even longer yesterday by the arrival of not one but two large work projects yesterday. I have a lot of reading to do today, and not the sort I'd prefer to be doing. But it's Friday, and there's a weekend ahead of me (a three-day weekend for Rainbow, thanks to a teacher in-service day on Monday), so today I'm sharing some little things that are making me happy.

The leaves are starting to change in my neighborhood, and I stopped on my walk the other day to snap this photo of one of the trees on my route. I love how you can see the chlorophyll gradually draining from the leaf -- nature is pretty amazing, isn't it?

The Mister and I received our ballots in the mail about a week ago and were planning to drop them off in person at our county elections office, but then my brother (who lives about two blocks from us) mentioned that he'd mailed his in and it had been received and processed in about a day, we decided to risk it. The Mister dropped them at our local post office, and two days later I got this email:

Now I can officially say that I've voted! Have you? Please, please make sure that you do!

On a related civic duty note, we all got our flu shots yesterday (and though my arm is a little sore today, I can tell you with all honesty that I barely felt the shot). Please get yours soon!

I've been working a lot on my Radiate pullover this week, and I'm headed into the weekend with a completed yoke and the start of the transition to the second color in my blue gradient:

I know it looks impossibly tiny here, but I promise it's not. I've tried it on and it does fit, plus I expect it will grow a bit when I block it because the yarn is superwash.

Finally, because today would have been John Lennon's 80th birthday, I'll leave you with his thoughts:

Have a good weekend, all! See you here again on Sunday for some spinning.

  1. Our ballots have not arrived yet but we have had mail in for years and will be dropping our ballots at the election drop box by the library. We also got flu shots and because I am of a certain age, I got a pneumonia sot too so both arms were very sore ☹️ Just trying to do my part too.

  2. Congratulations on voting and getting your flu shots! (I have also done both of those things.) Radiate does look interesting (and I'm glad you reassured us that it is not a doll sweater and will fit you). Have a good weekend!

  3. Flu shot - check! We’re voting in person and I am counting the days! The leaves were a treat on our walk tonight but I suspect they will all be gone after the rain coming in this week. Have a wonderful weekend Sarah!

  4. Thank you for all of these positive updates! Fall is my favorite season and I feel so lucky to live in the northeast now -- the kids are really enjoying running through the crunchy leaves on the ground.

Your Radiate is beautiful and you're making great progress! I hope you have a great weekend :)

  5. Nature is AMAZING! (and so darned reliable ... I note this every October, with much gratitude!) I look forward to seeing that next blue in Radiate tomorrow ... and not so much looking forward to my flu shot or getting my car's emissions tested. I'm going to sandwich voting between those two tasks and trust the experience will make the whole month seem GOOD!

  6. YEAH for voting!!! My fingers are tightly crossed for you all.
The cardigan looks fantastic! I thought it might be a little dark at first, but pairing it with the blue will give it a very winter-y look, I think! Nice!!

    1. It's actually a pullover, not a cardigan, and the rest of it will be a blue gradient. The blue you see here is the lightest shade.

    2. You're right. I don't even know why I wrote cardigan. I looked up the patten when you started it and of course it's a pullover. Argh. But it will be very, very pretty once it's done!

  7. We delivered our ballots to the Election Commission drop box on Friday. About Monday, I'll follow-up with the electronic tracking address. "Imagine" - a good thought for right now. Sometimes music is so timeless. Enjoy your weekend.

  8. We dropped off our ballots to the Carnegie drop off location! It "felt" like voting and it was busy, but the line went quickly. And, they had a set up for people to get their "mail in ballot" there and vote! Each voter table was full!! I have to confess, it warmed my heart to see so many people believing their vote matters! Happy weekend to you!
