Ooops, I Did It Again

Last night, the back and fronts of my Central Park Hoodie were all nicely blocked and ready for a bit of seaming before I could start the hood ...

But did I do that little bit of seaming so I could start the hood? Nope. Instead I cast on for something new:

This is the beginning of Trellis in Cotton Ease for a little boy who is due to arrive in mid-January (but, if he's anything like his two older sisters, is likely to arrive a month early). I think the knitty karma was working against me, though, because I had to rip and re-cast on three or four times before I was satisfied.

The good news is that my sock mojo was not affected. Look, I finished my first Lenore!

Did you know mostly black yarn is difficult to photograph accurately, especially when there's no natural light to be had?

Tonight I'm going to be brave and tackle the seaming so that I can start the hood, and I'm going to block the sleeves as well. I am so close to finishing this sweater that I have no good excuse not to work on it. I could use it to keep me warm, too, since temps have gone down to freezing the past couple of nights. Sweater weather has arrived!

How many of you, dear readers, are knitting sweaters right now? What sweaters are you knitting?

  1. I want to finish my sock-in-progress and my Jaywalker scarf, then I'm going to assess my sweaters-in-progress and do the best I can to get some, or all of them!, finished. I used to be a sweaters-only knitter. What the hell happened?

  2. OMG that sock is divine! I guess I'll cancel my flight to come steal your yarn.

I've GOT to get my Tangled Yoke blocked, but I absolutely detest blocking. What's a girl to do?

  4. Oh wow, that Lenore looks FAB! Is that a preview of the Raven collection they've been teasing?

No sweaters for me until December. I'm trying to get my gift knitting done on schedule this year instead of trying to whip everything out in say, a week, like last year. :P But my next sweater will be ready to cast on in December! It'll either be Raspy, Marilyn, or a cardi I'm dying to knit but probably don't have enough yardage for. *sob* There'll be a I'm-deluded-won't-you-join-me post on that soon...

  5. I usually love seaming, but I really, really hate seaming shoulders. I started seaming and then I realized that I have no idea how to sew purl stitch on shoulders, so I ended up whip stitching the tiny purl portions and then sewing the rest of the shoulders the normal way. I should have had the foresight to do short rows on the shoulder and then do a three needle bind off. Oh well!

I'm so not looking forward to the button bands. All those stitches to pick up! I'm also at the stage on Tom's sweater where I have to pick up stitches along the armholes for the sleeves. So...many...stitches...

Yes - you will win this Lenore race for sure (and your picture shows the subtle dark coloring very well)
I've got Tangled Yoke lurking in the background - it's just so much easier to pick up socks and start knitting than to pull out the sweater!

  7. Love the sock. I can't wait to see more of the Raven series!

No sweaters here. I'm still a "sweater virgin". I'm thinking after the holidays I'll take the plunge though. Until then I'm busy with "bum sweaters". ;)

I too am knitting for a late Jan. baby boy - 1st grandbaby of a coworker. I am knitting Harvey Kimono from the book "natural knits for babies and moms"
it is quick and easy -- may make one for my neice or nephew (who is due any day) as a christmas gift.
